This Central Intelligence Agency file, dated 29 September 1975, collects Office of Security memoranda written while the Senate Select Committee was investigating the Agency. Staff were told to alert former employees about possible committee contact over Project MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE, and the file answers committee questions about Hayes International and Bay of Pigs pilots. It also records staff interviews about CIA name checks at NSA and a Justice Department request for records on domestic electronic surveillance. It contains no material on UFOs.

I Z I 1 i i ( > i 1 l 4 H* "-SE&fiE§L- .. 11 July 19?5 SUBJECT: internal Revenue Service Interview of Farmer Qffice of Security Employee On 1 July 1975 the Special Agent in Charge of the San Francisco Field Office advised that he had had a lengthy discussion with Mr. Stewart on that éate ané outlined the follewing informatian about the interview conducteé by Agent Rourke and another Agent on Saturday, Z3 June 1Q7S. After placing Mr. Stewart under eath, the Special Agents consumed about S minutes éiscussing the informaticn provided to Hr. Stewart by Mr. Leonarfi and he asked haw it was done and why it wasa’t fione thraugh the established formal process. Mr. Stewart repartedly tald him that he was an investigator in the fieid ané he had simpiy set up the contact with Mr. Leonard and was providefi the information by showing his official identi- ficatiun. Mr. Stewart told Agent Rourka that he was not aware sf any formal process for raqnesting this informatien and ha thought that maybe Hr. Leonard was net aware either. After com§1eting the brief questioning about obtaining IRS infarmaticn and Mr. Leonard, the Spacial Agents preceeded to question Mr. Stewart about CIA's field offices. They askad how many fielé offic¢$ there were and Mr. $tewart listed about five. The Agents than asked him if we didn't have one in Miami and if we didn‘t have one in Les Angeles. Mr. Stewart responded affirmatively to these questiens and negatively when asked if we didn‘t have on: in Seattle. (These questinns lead Mr. Stewart to beliave that the investigators were well aware sf our entire field office erganization.) fihen tha negative reply on Seattle was given, they askefi if we didn‘t have men assigneé there. Mr. Stewart said yes. They proceedeé to question Mr. Stawart about the éifferent covers of the field offices ané asked about sevaral different federal agenzies that might have sarved as ccvar for 61$ investigaturs. They asked about the Office of Chief Caordinator which thay saemed ta be aware of. They asked if there ever was a person appeinted Chief Coordinator and who he was. Thay inquired as ta whether Mr. Stewart had evur attanded a Chief Coordinator’s meeting anfi than asked Mr. Stewart about his contacts with the post office.
