This Central Intelligence Agency file, dated 29 September 1975, collects Office of Security memoranda written while the Senate Select Committee was investigating the Agency. Staff were told to alert former employees about possible committee contact over Project MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE, and the file answers committee questions about Hayes International and Bay of Pigs pilots. It also records staff interviews about CIA name checks at NSA and a Justice Department request for records on domestic electronic surveillance. It contains no material on UFOs.

While discussing Subject's stay at Reed College, both as a student and a member of the faculty, Subject stated that there were some individuals there that had definite left-wi___ng_La_n,dgpcies. Subject said that she naturally does not recall all the names of these individuals since she was not that closely associated with them. How- ever, Subject did recall several names, specifically, a Paula SMITH (NR-IRB) and a Lloyd REYNOLDS (NR-IRE). _ 7. Subject recalled Paula SMITH because they were both students and studied in the library together in preparation for a thesis. According to Subject, Paula SMITH had left.-wing tendencies and probably became a member of the .G9F1mw1ist Party after marriage. In regard to Lloyd REYNOLDS, Subject said that he was . a member of the Reed faculty approximately during the period of 1931- l9hl and may still be at Reed College. Subject knew Mr. REYNOLDS only casually by virtue of her connection with the faculty at Reed College. She stated that it was rumored at Reed College that REYNOLDS was active in the Spanish Civil War activities. She said that as she looks back on it now in retrospect, R.EYlI§I_Ol.DS was definitely involved in some Communist Front activities on the campus of Reed College.
