This Central Intelligence Agency file, dated 29 September 1975, collects Office of Security memoranda written while the Senate Select Committee was investigating the Agency. Staff were told to alert former employees about possible committee contact over Project MERRIMAC/RESISTANCE, and the file answers committee questions about Hayes International and Bay of Pigs pilots. It also records staff interviews about CIA name checks at NSA and a Justice Department request for records on domestic electronic surveillance. It contains no material on UFOs.

D ‘~& :1‘-, ~ SUBJECT: Victor Marchetti 1 On 5 April 1972, a Confidential Informant reviewed ' Mr. Marchetti's inC0me tax forms from 1964 through 1971 and advised that there appeared to be no serious discrepancies. From September 1969, when Mr. Marchetti resigned from the Agency, through December 1971, Mr. Marchetti's total reported income was less than $7,000. This consisted of a payment in 1970 of under $7,000 from a publishing firm known as Granada, Ltd., in England and a reported income of approxi- mately $900 in 1971. An investigation is being conducted to obtain information regarding Granda, Ltd. The only other income reported was approximately $4,800 in both 1970 and 1971 received by Mr. Marchetti's wife from the Fairfax County Hospital where she became employed late in 1969. At the time the above information was obtained, our Informant was extremely interested in the fact that Mr. Marchetti had authored and published a book but still onlyxreported a total income of less than $7,000 for 1970 and 1971. In this regard, our source would be ready to conduct, at our request, a routine audit of Mr. Marchetti's income tax for the past three years.
