MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director ef Security (P81)
FROM : John S. Hunt
The Review Staff
3UBJECT : Department of Justice Requast
(Review of IRS Records Regarding
Victor Marchetti)
1. Reference is made to eur pravieus discussiens cencern-
ing a request from Mr* Robert Andary, Department of Justice, to
interviaw certain entrant/former Office of Security emplayees
in an attempt te identify the IRS empleyee who previded tax~
payer data to the Agency concarning Victor Marchatti.
2. Mr. Andary has been in touch with Mr. Gary Breneman,
OGC, and has requested a meeting between the undersigned,
Mr. Breneman, an as yet unidentified 6.8. Attorney, and
Mr. waiter Raurke of the IRS. Mr. Braneman today advised
the undersigned that he is attempting to schedula this meeting
far Friday, 19 March 1976. Mr. Breueman has discussed this
matter with Mr. Warner, General Counsel, and apparently OGC
wuuld not abject to the interviews, so long as the GS employees
de ggg receive Miranda warnings prier ta the intarviews.
3. The abeve is pravidad for ynur information, and I will
advise your office cf any further developments regarding this
matter. Based on my discussions with Mr. Braneman, there does
nut appear to be any possibility of prasecution as it related
to Agency employeas, and the Department of Justice is prasumabl
just trying to idantify the IRS employee who made Marchetti's
taxpayer data available.
