This Central Intelligence Agency newsletter covers Information Review and Release activities for 16 to 20 April 2001. It lists upcoming declassification panel meetings, reports on an External Referral Working Group meeting, and quotes a 1953 letter from General Counsel Lawrence Houston. It also summarizes FOIA requests, including several nearly identical requests from Woodland, California about Area 51, Majestic 12 and Roswell. The CIA says it holds no information on the alleged Roswell event and has not located Majestic 12 records.

The FOIA case oflicer will inform all requesters that they may access the CIA ’s UFO records collection at the Agency's web site on the internet. 0 fi‘$L UFO researchers frequently ask about Area 51 in Nevada, where they believe the US Government conducts tests on captured alien space crafi./ 0 (U) UFO researchers believe an alien spacecraft crashed near Roswell, New Mexico in 194 7, and the CIA has been asked many times for its records on the event. The CIA responds that it holds no information on this alleged event. 0 (U) Majestic I2, or MJ-1 2, is also a frequent request subject of UFO researchers. It is allegedly a top secret research and development operation formed by President Truman to exploit the alien materials gathered at the Roswell crash site.
