These are CIA minutes of a Deputies' Meeting held on Wednesday, 10 December 1952, with General Smith, Mr. Dulles, Mr. Wisner and other senior officials present. General Smith asked Mr. Amory to write a short memorandum on flying saucers, about three paragraphs, so that he could discuss the subject with the President on 12 December. The rest of the minutes cover other business, including a Joint Chiefs clandestine operating committee, propaganda about the Rosenbergs' sentence, a possible defection at the UN and CAT aircraft transport.

Reported that General Young, Air Force, had advised[::::::::::::] that (1) the U.S. Joint Chiefs had designated a clandestine operating committee under the Standing Group; (2) in all probability, we could obtain a copy of the a er approving such designation. Stated that Dr. Chadwell was most anxious to obtain more intelligence in the electronic field and gave DD/P a memorandum from AD/SI on this subject. - (b)(1) Mr. Wiener: (bxs) a. Advised the Director that Admiral Kirk intended to request that Ted E:::::::]be transferred to the staff of PSB. After some discussion, the D(bX1)or noted his views on this and asked DD/P to convey them personally to (bxg) b. Referred to the discussion at yesterday's Deputies‘ Meeting concerning the Shah of Iran‘s trip to Khuzistan and noted the information we received on this matter from the Senior Representative[:::::::] was “a little late" since the Shah had already completed this travel and returned safely.
