This Central Intelligence Agency personality file on Soviet official Nikolay Sergeyevich Leonov (201-132139), with material dated 1953 to 1963, compiles cables, FBI documents, surveillance reports, press photos and passport copies. It records his Soviet Embassy service in Mexico City, the finding of his calling card in Fidel Castro's address book in 1956, and his role as Castro's interpreter in the USSR in 1963. A source identified him as a KGB officer, and a DIA item alleged he was planning Latin American insurgency.

On 28 September MASYUKEVICH talked to (fm) AOBRIZUZ Toro and his wife and apologized for the glass broken by their child when they were at the AOBRIZUZ home. He said he had some gifts for them, perfumes from Nicew, and was only awaiting an occasion to give them to them. AOBRIZUZ told MASYUKEVICH that he had his lighter. MASYUKEVICH had thought it lost and bought another. AOBRIZUZ mentioned that he had been in Vergerus and had seen AKUNG7 there. He also had spoken with Alberto SELIRAN, pro-Commist artist, concerning the possibility of going out to the country on Sunday. MASYUKEVICH thought it an excellent idea.

## IV. ACTIVITIES OF THE MILITARY

1. Captain Carlos GANTADER Brailla of the Second Station of the Mexican Army Staff informed Naval Attacke Minority on 2 September that Captain Vladimir Kikolayevich, of the Soviet Military Attacke office, had brought them a list of Soviet technicolor movies from which they could choose. It was arranged that KALIN would talk to SANTADER about sending the following pictures which they had chosen: "Circo Ruso," "Los Virtuosos del Ballet Ruso," "Cerilla Sueca," "Romeo y Julieta," "Deyorte Sovietio 17," and "Tuelo a la Luna." On 5 September KALIN contacted the office about the movies, stating that they could not and then all at once, but that he would bring by "Los Virtuosos de Ballet Ruso" and "Romeo y Julieta" when they were read.

2. Naval Lt. Jesus RAZO Reguero cancelled a luncheon engagement with RAZO7 on 4 September because of the illness of his daughter. (Field Correspondent: RAZO, who joined the Mexican Navy on 14 September 1939, was promoted to Lt. j.g. in 158, served as an assistant at Jetty Officer's School in 1950, and currently is an aide to Vice Admiral APITAL, Inspector General of the Navy.)

3. On 6 September REMIZOV contacted Conanate Alfonso CISILAS Gomes and asked when they were going to hear Mexican music. Arrangements were made to get together at 8:00 p.m. on 11 September at REMIZOV's home. Both men sent greetings to each other's family.

4. Nikolay Deamidovich BYKOV, Assistant Naval Attache, called to (firm) NAX at the Second Section司令, the invitations they had received to the ceremony of delivering of flags to the Naval Units of Mexico and checked on the address.
