This Central Intelligence Agency personality file on Soviet official Nikolay Sergeyevich Leonov (201-132139), with material dated 1953 to 1963, compiles cables, FBI documents, surveillance reports, press photos and passport copies. It records his Soviet Embassy service in Mexico City, the finding of his calling card in Fidel Castro's address book in 1956, and his role as Castro's interpreter in the USSR in 1963. A source identified him as a KGB officer, and a DIA item alleged he was planning Latin American insurgency.

2. On 5 October RAIREZ contacted Jorge SANTEZ, attendant that Panamanian Embassy, to request appointment with ambassador Dusebio A. MORALES. However, the ambassador was in Panama City so RAIREZ made arrangements to meet with RAIREZ the following day.

3. On 17 October PECANOV informed Mr. Otto L. Lalahina Salazar, Second Secretary at the Nicaraguan Embassy, that the Soviet Ambassador would participate in the ceremony in honor of Carlos/PLCN del Valle, former Chief of the Invasive Protocol Office. The Soviet Ambassador and indicated that they could handle the matter of the money as they liked, taking from the funds of the diplomatic corps if they wished.

4. On 31 October KALATSLV invited Bolivian Ambassador AICE and First Secretary Paul Alfonsi AECIA and their wives to lunch on behalf of the Soviet Ambassador as a farewell to AICE. However, AICE was leaving on a trip that dry and could not accept.

## C. Relations with Iron Curtain Nations

12 Czech Lerations On 2 October Ambassador HLAZENEQV invited Czech Minister Bedrien PISICRA and his wife to attend the concert of Soviet pianist LALZIN to be held that evening at Bollas Artes. On 4 October Karel GLAZENEQV of the Czech Legation met with GLAZENEQV. PISICRA and GLAZENEQV and their wives accepted invitations to the farewell cocktail party, for GLAZENEQV given on 10 October. On 29 October Boris P. KCIKASOY, Attache, invited Bedrien PISICRA and Liberir GLAZIN to a small recital with the visiting Soviet artists were to give at the IIQP.

2. Polish Location Polish Charge d'affaires Bernard RODAESKI was scheduled to visit the Soviet Embassy the evening of 11 October, probably with his wife.

## D. Miscellaneous Diplomatic Relations

1. On 1 October 1917 trade arrangements to visit (fnr) VILLASECA, assist to (fnr) URJIDI of CEPAL (Consish Economics para la America Latina).

2. Indian Embassy of the Indian Embassy received an invitation to the farewell party for GIRL'S DAY on 20 October. He also invited GIRL'S DAY to lunch on 15 October and 1 affected that GIRL'S DAY should bring along any other friend or couple he chose. It is believed that Ambassador HILLIER'S DAY attended the luncheon. On 20 October JANUJ and his wife were invited to a concert of Soviet singer DONNA COTA.
