This Central Intelligence Agency personality file on Soviet official Nikolay Sergeyevich Leonov (201-132139), with material dated 1953 to 1963, compiles cables, FBI documents, surveillance reports, press photos and passport copies. It records his Soviet Embassy service in Mexico City, the finding of his calling card in Fidel Castro's address book in 1956, and his role as Castro's interpreter in the USSR in 1963. A source identified him as a KGB officer, and a DIA item alleged he was planning Latin American insurgency.

7. Lluvio/ G. A. M. Eurez, Minister of Hydraulic Resources, and his wife received an invitation to a concert of the Soviet musicians on 21 October and requested eight seats. On 20 October they asked that eight seats be reserved for the 22 October concert.

8. Enrique JOSA Pontones, private secretary of Antonio CABRILLO. Flores, minister of Finance, informed JELX LT on 15 October that Cabrillo enjoyed attending the concert with the bassist on Sunday, but would not be able to accompany him on Thursday. 17 October because of a meeting with the French Economic Conclusion.

9. Soviet Ambassador HALLEMIC7 made an appointment to meet with Director Rodrigo VILLE of the Barco de Naxies on 12-October at 12:00 noon.

On 16 October the Ambassador consulted with Zarata concerning an idea he had of organizing a small concert at the Embassy for a very restricted group - only Secretaries and some Subsecretaries and their wives. Zarata said that the question of attending was difficult because of the limited time and the protocol. Zarata suggested that the Ambassador send out invitations or indicate to him who might be interested. He and PARISCAL could not attend on the 17th because they were invited to a cocktail party in the afternoon at Bellas Artes and a dinner in the evening. Zarata had already heard the artists at Bellas Artes and at the cocktail party at the Embassy.

11. On 24 October 1883 W/received a message from Salvador CLEDS, secretary of President W Z Cortines, thanking the Embassy for offering a concert by the Soviet artists as mentioned in the note received from the Soviets. However, they would not be able to attend due to the fact that the wife of the president had some engagements out of town.

12. The private secretary of GEROSIZA informed RENAUDY on 27 October that GEROSIZA had received the Ambassador's invitation to the concert on 28 October, but had to go out of town and would not be able to attend. He asked that the tickets be given to his son.

1. Ambassador K.L. LUNZOV made arrangements with Dr. Gabriel Acee Urirega, Bolivian Ambassador, to meet at the Solivian Cancellary on the afternoon of 2 October.
