This Central Intelligence Agency personality file on Soviet official Nikolay Sergeyevich Leonov (201-132139), with material dated 1953 to 1963, compiles cables, FBI documents, surveillance reports, press photos and passport copies. It records his Soviet Embassy service in Mexico City, the finding of his calling card in Fidel Castro's address book in 1956, and his role as Castro's interpreter in the USSR in 1963. A source identified him as a KGB officer, and a DIA item alleged he was planning Latin American insurgency.

Mikolai LECHCV and wife Valeria arrived in Rome on 9 May 53 from Moscow and took lodgings at Primrose Pensione until 13 May 53 when they departed for Genoa to proceed by sea to Mexico. LECHCV carries service ppt C 10724, issued in Moscow on 29 Oct 52. Wife carries service ppt. C-11507, issued in Moscow 23 Feb 53

80-96339 22 Sept '52: One N. LECOCV, passport No. 09492 dtd 24 Apr'52 Visa No. 70, dtd 25 Apr'52, arrived in Peshawar from Kabul on 2 May'52. This individual is leader of Agriculture Delegation from Moscow on way to Karachi. (this info. taken from BCK-175 dtd 17 Jul'52 and was acquired in Karachi, Pakistan.) Purpose of this trip was to attend Asian Regional Conference on Spizootics which was held in Karachi 3 May'52.
