This Central Intelligence Agency memorandum, dated October 1955 and approved for release in 2010, records a sighting of an unusual flying object from a train. A traveler on a sleeping car describes how a companion saw a flying saucer, and how he then saw a glowing searchlight on the horizon and an object with two white lights rising vertically and passing over the train in silence. The file also contains interrogation notes and interview notes on the same sighting from other witnesses, with names redacted.

light on top of the object. The object was a Glat Circular shape with a bulge upon it, divided assemblies to a partially inflated balloon. The object moved upward slowly, at first slowed and moved rapidly over the trailing. It did not appear to increase in size as it moved over the trailing. There were no ripples on the object that was said not to be a conventional airplane. No estimate of distance could be made. Its size now that it be about a large enough. There were two search lights to the left with the beam horizontal. The lights appeared to be diffused. The lights were not thought to be associated with the object. The object appeared to be about 38° ahlad of the drive and crossed the train at about 90° . The train was moving
