This Central Intelligence Agency memorandum to the Director of Central Intelligence, dated 9 January 1953, asks permission to engage Dr. Luis W. Alvarez and Dr. Thornton Page as ad hoc consultants. They would serve on the Office of Scientific Intelligence Advisory Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects, which was scheduled to convene on 14 January 1953. The memo cites a December 1952 IAC decision to enlist scientists to review UFO evidence. It proposes paying each consultant $50 per day, and approval is subject to security clearance.

## 5. CONCLUSION
It is concluded that Dr. Alvares and Dr. Page are particularly wall suited to serve on the O/SI Advisory Panel on "Unidentified Flying Objects".
## 6. ACTION REQUESTED
That permission be granted to approach Dr. Luis W. Alvaros and Dr. Thornhon W. Page with regard to service as ad hoc consultants on the subject of "unidentified flying objects" and to initiate the necessary personnel action.
