This Central Intelligence Agency letter, dated 10 January 1961, is from retired Brigadier General Philip G. Strong to Lt. Colonel Lawrence J. Tacker of the U.S. Air Force Office of Information. Strong thanks Tacker for an inscribed copy of Tacker's new book on flying saucers. He says he read about half of it and found it interesting and well presented. He also says a 'lunatic fringe' will never accept Air Force objectiveness on UFOs, and he hopes the book succeeds.

Dear Colonial Tacker: It was very thoughtful of you to send me the inscribed copy of your new book on flying saucers. I certainly agrees with the pious hope that publication of this book will do much to clear up the confusion about UFO's. I read about half the book last night and found it extremely interesting and well presented. Unfortunately, there seems to be a fair sized "lunatic frings" that will never be really convinced of Air Force objectiveness and forthrightness on this subject.
