This is a short Central Intelligence Agency letter dated 16 January 1957 from Herbert Scoville, Jr., Assistant Director, to Mr. John P. Anderson of Cocoa Beach, Florida. It acknowledges receipt of Anderson's letter of 4 January 1957, which reported an unidentified flying object, and thanks him for the report and for the additional comments he appended. The letter gives no details of the sighting and draws no conclusions. A distribution list shows copies routed within the agency, including to the Office of Scientific Intelligence.
