This Central Intelligence Agency letter, dated 27 January 1953, is from Assistant Director H. Marshall Chadwell to Dr. Julius A. Stratton, Provost of MIT. It explains that CIA gathered a panel of scientists to study unidentified flying objects and says the agency agrees with the panel's conclusions. It adds that CIA's interest in the subject was kept restricted. Attached material includes a memo on the Advisory Group chaired by Dr. H. P. Robertson, which found the objects pose no threat to United States security. The panel's charge and a list of possible explanations are also attached.

I was present to weekly all meetings of the group with the exception of the afternoon of Friday, the 15th and the service on Saturday, the 27th. During the latter two sessions the Advisory Group sent into executive pension for the preparation of their report to PIE/BI. 2. The following OCI Consultants formed the Advisory Group Dr. H. P. Dr. Harrison Pye (mixed morning session on 15th) Dr. Dloyd Neimer (present only on afternoon of 15th and 17: Dr. J. A. Cattell (most of the first day only) Kr. P. O. Strong (first day only) Ir. F. C. Strange (although not an CCI consultant, he functioned as a staff officer for the conference and attended all services including the executive confer- ence. B. B. Clavenson, Defense Division Lt. Col. Y. C. J. Gair, 15E Division 1. The following persons were invited to present certain background information to the Advisory Groups Captain Island Royale, ASU who presented information on the work of Pryd.
