This Central Intelligence Agency information report on Belgium, report no. 10-A 50566, has the subject line "Report of Unidentified Flying Bombs". It quotes a letter sent to a telescope maker by a correspondent in Kivu, Belgian Congo. The writer asked about price and delivery for a compact telescope for an observation group they were forming. The letter says UFOs were being seen more and more over the country, and it asks for near armor-plated packing so the instrument would arrive intact.

In early November 1939 we received a letter from the Kivt, Belgian Congo, requesting price and delivery information on a short, compact, 60cm telescope which we manufacture for sportmen. The following paragraphs are taken from the letter: As you anticipate do not want to tell us that the so quickly called 'flying saucers' are, and above all, that they want (and this may be very important in the future), I need your excellent telescope for myself and my observation group which I am just creating. The UFO [Unidentified Flying Objects] are seeing more and more over this country, and seeing portages to the very nature of this land and its beautiful sights, we here look more often in the sky than the busy Americas. "When telling me the prince, please remember that the packing must be almost armor-plated, because otherwise the local vanicle may destroy the talience even before it reaches me."
