Central Intelligence Agency · 1990-04-01 · 2 pages · text by OCR

This Foreign Broadcast Information Service item, relayed by the Joint Staff in May 1990 and released by the Central Intelligence Agency in June 1994, translates a Moscow Domestic Service report of 21 May 1990. It says scientists from China and the Soviet Far East held their first joint meeting of ufologists in Dalnegorsk. There they planned to investigate known incidents and to exchange video and photographs of new ones. The report notes at least 10 UFOs recorded in the area over four years, which specialists linked to the region's mineral wealth.

LAST FOUR YEARS ALONE NO LESS THAN 10 UFO'S HAVE BEEN RECORDED. SPECIALISTS LINK THEIR HEIGHTENED INTEREST IN PLACES HERE WITH THE VARIETY AND WEALTH OF USEFUL MINERALS IN MARITIME KRAY. SIMILAR INCIDENTS HAVE ALSO OCCURED IN MOUNTAINOUS REGIONS IN CHINA WHOSE CLIMATIC CONDITIONS AND NATURAL LANDSCAPE RESEMBLE OUR OWN. ADMIN (ENDALL) 212100 23/0830Z MAY BT
