This Central Intelligence Agency telegram information report, numbered TDCS-3/446,215 and distributed 20 July 1960, describes an unidentified flying object seen over Behshahr, Iran, on 17 July 1960 at about 1620 GMT. Several witnesses watched it for an estimated 15 to 25 seconds as it traveled low and fairly flat but heading downward, then turned gradually west and seemed to burn out. It was described as conical and bright aquamarine with a white and red tail, and made a sub-sonic sound like air passing through a pipe.

AN UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT WAS SIGHTED AT APPROXIMATELY 16:20 GREENWICH MEAN TIME ON 17 JULY 1960. TRAVELLING IN A SOUTHEAST TO NORTHWEST DIRECTION OVER PENSAHR, IRAN (36° 46' N - 53° 34' E). THE OBJECT WAS IN VIEW AN ESTIMATED 15 TO 20 SECONDS. SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS WHO SAW THE OBJECT STATED THAT AFTER PASSING OVER MESSAGE. IT MADE A GRADUAL TURN WEST BEFORE HURNING OUT. ALL WILL SAW THE OBJECT AFTER IT APPEARED TO BURN OUT BEFORE DISAPPEARING OVER THE HORIZON. 2. SPEECH WAS SUB-SONIC AS HEARD BEFORE SIGHTING; SOUND OF VARIABLE LINE LIKE AIR PASSING THROUGH TUBE OR PIPE. 3. TRAJECTORY: LOW AND QUITE FLAT BUT HEADING DOWNWARD. SHAFT DESIGNED AS CORNAL. ILLUMINATION: BRIGHT AQUAMARINE-COLORED WITH WHITE AND RED TAIL. 4. ONE PERSON WHO SAV THE OBJECT CLAIMS THAT IT APEARED TO PRAISE IN TW CLARIFICATION - DEMARKATION CONTROLS APPROVED FOR RELEASE
