This Central Intelligence Agency release pairs a January 1956 transmittal memo from the Liaison Division to the Chief of the Applied Science Division with a summary and tabulation of an unconventional flying object sighted in the USSR on 4 October 1955. Members of a party travelling by train from Baku to Tiflis made the sighting. The chart sets their accounts side by side, covering shape, size, lights, motion and searchlights. It concludes that darkness and the short duration kept the observers from describing the object properly.

## SIGHTING OF UNCONVENTIONAL FLYING OBJECT ILMR [RUS] USSR ON 4 OCTOBER 1955 1. Attached is a tabulation of the statements made by each member of the party relative to the unidentified flying object sighted by them on 4 October 1955 while on the train from Baku to Tiflis. 2. The tabulation has been held for some time awaiting answers to questions by Source 3 which have just been received and incorporated in the chart. 3. From observation of the chart it is apparent that due to darkness and the short duration of the sighting, the observers were unable to distinguish sufficient details to properly describe the object.
