This Central Intelligence Agency information report, approved for release on 24 June 1978, describes a fiery ball seen at about 2000 hours on 12 or 13 September 1953. It flew from north-northeast to south-southwest, about 5 km west of the coast, at a constant altitude of 1,000 to 1,500 meters. The object was yellowish red in front and dark red toward the rear, left no smoke trail and made no sound. The report says the sighting confirms earlier unidentified flying object observations in the Rostov area.
