This is volume 1 of Autos Findos 908/1997, a military police inquiry (IPM No. 18/97) opened on 29 January 1997 by the commander of the Brazilian Army's Escola de Sargentos das Armas in Três Corações. The inquiry targeted the book "Incidente em Varginha" by Vitório Pacaccini and Maxs Portes, which an officer said spread false claims harmful to the Armed Forces. The volume includes a May 1996 sindicância in which soldiers testified that nothing unusual happened when EsSA trucks traveled to Varginha for routine maintenance, along with pages copied from the book.

Ao Sr Subcomandante da EsSA
Assunto: Publicação sobre o ET Varginha
Participo-vos que no dia 24 Jan 97 ao ler o livro "INCIDENTE EM VARGINHA" de autoria dos senhores VITÓRIO PACACCINI e MARS PORTES, das Edições Cuatiara Ltda, constatei que:
a) Em várias passagens os autores propalam fatos inveridicos capazes de abalar ou ofender o crédito das Forças Armadas ou de seus integrantes;
b) Incita, sobre o manto do anonimato, militares da EsSA a prestarem depoimentos em que os mesmos revelam dados sigilosos sobre o funcionamento desta Organização Militar e fazem criticas a atos de superiores hierárquicos, nitidamente contrárias à disciplina militar;
c) Atribuem, falsamente, a esta Escola fato definido como crime quando comentam que em seu "Inquérito Técnico" as testemunhas foram forjadas para acobertar o propalado incidente com extraterrestre.
