This is volume 1 of Autos Findos 908/1997, a military police inquiry (IPM No. 18/97) opened on 29 January 1997 by the commander of the Brazilian Army's Escola de Sargentos das Armas in Três Corações. The inquiry targeted the book "Incidente em Varginha" by Vitório Pacaccini and Maxs Portes, which an officer said spread false claims harmful to the Armed Forces. The volume includes a May 1996 sindicância in which soldiers testified that nothing unusual happened when EsSA trucks traveled to Varginha for routine maintenance, along with pages copied from the book.

# PORTARIA Tendo-me sido delegadas pelo Exmo Sr Comandante da Escola de Sargentos das Armas as atribuições policialis que lhe competem para apurar os fatos a que se refere a Parte Nr 006-E2, de 27 Jan 97, inclusa nos presentes autos, determino que se procedam os necessários exames e diligências para o esclarecimento dos aludidos fatos. Recomendo, outrossim, ao Sr Escrivão que autue a presente Portaria com os documentos inclusos, juntando, sucessivamente, as demais peças que forem acrescendo, e intime as pessoas que tiverem conhecimento dos fatos em questão e suas circunstâncias a comparecerem em dia e hora que forem designados, a fim de serem inquiridos, na forma da legislação vigente.
