8,000 pages of Declassified Canadian UFO Documents

Internet Archive · 2015-12-10 · 300 pages · text by OCR

This Internet Archive upload holds declassified Canadian records sent to the National Research Council's Meteor Centre, which filed them as non-meteoritic sightings. Most are RCAF and Canadian Forces message reports from 1965 on lights and objects seen over Vancouver, Toronto, Sydney, Cochrane, Whitehorse and other places. The later material dates from 1968. It includes RCMP reports from Shediac and Sydney Mines. The police concluded the Sydney Mines object that hit power lines was probably a meteorite.

The following report was received by phone, July 8, 1968 from: Mr. Champagne Phone 2-5368

Saturday evening, July 6th, 1968 at 8:53 EDT. I saw in the general direction of the Pole Star what appeared as a bright star. With the aid of binoculars it appeared to be 100 miles out. After observing it 4 to 5 minutes with the binoculars it exploded or seperated. A smaller section flew off the main one in a Northern direction some distance from the larger one. An example of the distance-1000 x diameter. While they seperated at a terrific speed there appeared to be smoke or haze between them and then inside of one minute both faded out. Observed the time - 8:57 PM.

The object appeared like a very brilliant white star--equal in magnitude to the evening star. The observed object was stationary.

The object was observed by Mr. Champagne with the binoculars and by his wife with the naked eye.
