This Project Blue Book case file, digitized by the Internet Archive, covers Incident 144: two Eastern Airlines pilots reported that a wingless, cigar-shaped object with a flaming exhaust passed their DC-3 about 20 miles southwest of Montgomery, Alabama, on 24 July 1948. The file includes an OSI interview with a Robins Air Force Base employee who saw a similar object, negative aircraft traffic reports from many bases, and later correspondence. A December 1948 intelligence report found fairly consistent descriptions across four related sightings.

1. At approximately 1400 hours, 6 October 1949, Captain Eastern Air Lines, Atlanta, Georgia, stated that he had seen an unidentified flying object on 23 July 1948, which he assumed to be a secret type UNAF aircraft, and reportedame to the Eastern Air Lines Public Relations Representatives and Safety Board Officials.

On 6 October 1949, Captain , 1729, in Atlanta, Georgia, was interviewed and supplied the following data:

30 to 50 miles southwest of Montgomery, Alabama. Observer's position was from the cockpit of an Eastern Air Liner D-3 at ap proximately same altitude an unidentified flying object.

A double-decked oiger shape fur- selge, illuminated thru apparent port-holes, resembling a D- C 6 without wings in size and appear- ance.

Northeast to southwest.
